I love having my children...

I love having my children sleeping with us in our bed. It feels like a sacred nest in which we all snuggle and keep each other safe and warm. And I know it feels like this because at 35 years old, my Mum’s bed still feels like home and the most comfortable loving space I can be in. Seriously, whenever I go see her I snuggle and ask for a back rub. So I find quite strange when people are so strongly suggesting or asking if my babies sleep through the night in their own beds? Where does this idea even come from? Babies and children have slept in common beds for centuries, and have been close to their parents always. It’s just human nature. Why do we live in a time an age where we are so desperately trying to separate our babies from us? Are you still breastfeeding? Is she sleeping through the night? Is she a good baby? Is he sleeping in his own bed? Do you breastfeed to sleep..? SO MANY questions! My children know that they are always welcome in my bed, and wherever they feel they need to be close to us. One day they will no longer need us like this anymore, so for now, we welcome them and hug them every second we can. And yes, my bedtime routine looks very much like breastfeeding to sleep while my son lies next to us and drifts off. And I wouldn’t change it for the world. #snugglebed #ourbedtheirbed I’m not here judging anyone making different choices, but please then don’t judge others for their own.
